Last reviewed: 10 September 2026. Investment pages compound the rate you type. They do not read live NAVs or bank FD cards.
Borrowing tools answer “what does this EMI cost.” Investing tools answer a different question: “if this contribution earns this assumed rate, what might the corpus be.” Mixing the two without naming the assumption is how people treat a 12% SIP sketch as a guaranteed FD. This hub keeps the identities separate and links the pages that implement them.
Monthly rate i = annual ÷ 12 ÷ 100. FV = M × [((1+i)n − 1) / i] × (1+i), with optional yearly step-up of M. Markets do not deliver a smooth line. Use 8%, 10% and 12% as a range, not a single heroic rate.
To reach ₹1 crore at a 12% assumption the engine needs about ₹43,041 a month for 10 years, ₹19,819 for 15 years, ₹10,009 for 20 years, or ₹5,270 for 25 years. That is reverse-SIP, not a product recommendation — open goal SIP and type the corpus yourself.
A ₹2,00,000 deposit at 6.8% for 5 years matures at about ₹2,80,188 with quarterly compounding and about ₹2,77,899 if compounded annually on the FD calculator. The difference is the frequency you selected, not a bank special. TDS and premature-break penalties are outside the engine.
PPF on this site adds a yearly deposit then applies an annual rate you type (the slider default is only a starting illustration). Lock-in, the ₹1.5 lakh yearly cap and account rules are statutory — confirm on the official nsiindia / bank page before you treat a corpus line as money you can withdraw next year. Pair with PPF and PPF vs FD.
