Car Loan EMI Calculator

Base the loan on the amount you actually borrow after down payment, not only the ex-showroom price.

What is a Car Loan EMI Calculator?

A car loan EMI is a secured instalment. The vehicle is typically hypothecated to the lender. Depreciation starts the day you drive out; interest does not care about resale value. Use this page to see cash-flow cost, not to pick a variant.

How to use it

Start from on-road price minus down payment. Add insurance or accessories only if they are being financed. Tenure is often 1–7 years here. A longer book eases EMI while the car’s market value falls faster than principal in the first years.

How car loan EMI is calculated

Reducing-balance EMI on P, r and n — the same identity as other loans on this site. Residual value, balloon payments and manufacturer subvention are not modelled. If a dealer quotes a “low EMI” with a large final instalment, this tool will not match unless you encode that structure yourself.

Formula used

EMI = P × r × (1+r)^n / ((1+r)^n − 1)
P = amount financed, r = annual rate ÷ 12 ÷ 100, n = months

Example calculation

₹8 lakh at 9.5% for 5 years has an EMI of about ₹16,803. Compare that EMI plus fuel and insurance with keeping a paid-off car, not with the sticker price alone.

Frequently asked questions

Should I include on-road price?

Yes. EMI should be based on the amount you actually borrow after down payment.

Is a longer tenure better?

It eases cash flow but you pay more interest while the car depreciates.
